July 23 Ministry Community focuses on Missions

The St. Louis/Eastern Missouri Ministry Commuity program and luncheon focused on Engaging God’s Mission Regionally and Globally.  Links to the video and PowerPoint presentations that were used or referred to at the meeting can be found on the Ministry Commuity tab.  In addition to hearing from Richard Schumacher and Rick Burke, the 35 attendees were introduced to the EFCA missionaries currently candidating with Reach Global and SIM.  We also heard from a representative of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship about the upcoming Urbana ‘09 Student Missions Convention.  Again, links are under the Ministry Community tab.

World Impact Urban Church Planting Internships

World Impact’s St. Louis Director Kelly Schjenken approached me this week about the organization’s internship program.  We plan a follow-up discussion about mutual cooperation between World Impact and the EFCA in planting a church in urban St. Louis.  Internship terms are one year,  but summertime internships are also a possibility.  Read more in the attached document.

Larry Austin Speaks to Eastern Missouri EFCA Leadership Community

The inaugeral EFCA Ministry Community event was held March 19th and drew about 45 pastors, church planters, ministers, seminary students and friends of the EFCA for networking and equipping. Samaritan Leadership Groups

EFCA Direcor of Reconciliation Alvin Sanders is organizing “Samaritan Leadership Groups” to advance reconciliation as a mission among Evaneglical Free Churches.  The groups will receive coaching, evaluate leadership resources, develop strategies, pray and build relationships that foster both racial and interpersonal reconciliation.
